“Why ChrisMadison.net?”
Every person is on a journey. Our journeys often are not easy. Over the years as a pastor, I’ve listened to many people. Sometimes their lives have gone swimmingly well. Other times, not so. Suffering is something we all share in common. It overtakes us at different times in our lives. But, there is a Companion along the way who brings meaning to our journeys and who guides us, sometimes softly, othertimes in loud or unexpected ways.
Your journey is important. Each person is special and unique, a gift from God needed in this world. And, every one of us brings something special to the world. You are not an accident! At least not in God’s mind.
I hope that as you blog on this site, or work with me or with other friends of mine who do what I do, that you will discover just how important and vital what you have to offer is. In fact, the world would just not be the same without you!
Let’s walk together, shall we?
Chris Madison, March, 2009
“I met Chris Madison after a serious illness nearly claimed my life. At that time I was in need of a Spiritual Mentor that could guide me through a new phase of life that was God given. Chris willingly stepped up and volunteered for the job when I asked for help. With his aid, I started and finished a book based on the work of the Spirit in my newfound life. He also provided me with the necessary insights into what was going on in my life and how God was interacting with me. He used his spiritual gifts and insights to guide me down a path to a position today that I feel I would not be in without his help.”
Lynn Huber, St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, Wabash, IN
I have completed the four long term disciple Bible studies and two short term disciple studies. Each experience was led by a different leader which allows some comparisons of teaching methods knowledge and style.
Pastor Chris Madison was the most knowledgeable Bible scholar I have had the privilege to study under. It was amazing when he read to us from the Hebrew text. But even more impressive was his desire that we be able to see what the Bible means to us personally today. He was very open to gaining insights from all involved in the class. I believe that part of what makes a good teacher is a desire to learn and grow and Chris was a fine example of this. Being in a class with someone so knowledgeable can be intimidating but even with his considerable gifts Chris made us all feel comfortable and valued.
Allowing me as a lay person to help lead this class helped me grow in my faith and as a person. He was always there to help and guide but not to overpower. I think Chris and I agree that Bible study is about learning to walk with the Lord more than just learning about the Bible. To study with Chris Madison was a privilege I will always treasure. I have grown in my knowledge of God’s word and in how it applies to my life situation. I thank God for that.

Chris, you have been such an inspiration to me. I admire your commitment to serve God for the past 30+ years! WOW! I will never forget your encouraging words when we both were new at First United Methodist Church in Wabash. You said to me, “Be yourself.” I have always reflected on that each time I have preached the Word of God in differing contexts. Thank-you for giving me something I can pass on to others. God uses us just as we are and you encouraged me to be me. Yours was the best encouragement ever! May God continue to lead and guide you as you serve. Remember Chris, “Be Yourself!”
